The Center for Agricultural and Forest Development, Inc. (CEDAF) incorporated by decree 205-87, was founded in 1987 under the name of the Agricultural Development Foundation, Inc. (FDA), in response to the deterioration of the National Research System And Transfer of Agricultural Technologies in the country, and given the impossibility of putting into operation the Dominican Institute of Agricultural Research (IDIA), which, with the participation of many of those who constituted the Foundation, had been approved by Law No. 289 of the National Congress, in 1985. The foundation was born as a result of joint efforts of the private agro-entrepreneurial sector, represented by the National Council of Entrepreneurs (now the National Council of Private Enterprise). The Government of the Dominican Republic; And the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which, through donation No. 517-0214, contributed the initial operating resources and those that served to establish a Fund, which constitutes the financial base Of the institution. The top organizational structure of the CEDAF is the General Assembly of Members. Every two years the Assembly elects the Board of Directors, which acts as the direct governing body of the Center.
