The Bee Research Institute (BRI), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) is the only one national comprehensive research institute on apicultural science which conducts applied basic research and explores the application of new and high technology in apicultural science with the aim to improve the economic and social effectiveness of apiculture and promote the modernization of apiculture science and technology. It was founded in 1958 with the support of chairman Zhu De and some other leaders, and situated in Beijing Botanical Garden near the Fragrant Hill (Xiang Shan) in the west suburb of Beijing with beautiful scenery and abundant nectar plants.
