IGA is a centre of research in genetics and genomics, committed to explore and exploit natural diversity of plants and organisms relevant to agriculture and non-food crops industry. IGA scientists have specific competences in grapevine genetics, genomics and breeding, grapevine crop management, adaptation of grapevine to abiotic stresses, exploration of grapevine germplasm for disease resistance. IGA has contributed to the grapevine, peach, and citrus genome sequencing projects, and is currently involved in the EU projects “TriticeaeGenome: Genomics for Triticeae improvement” and “EnergyPoplar: Enhancing Poplar Traits for Energy Applications”
