    The aim of this project is to demonstrate the advantages of a generic data platform. By means of case studies, we will showcase how existing sensor prototypes can be combined with additional on farm (sensor) data, to build new applications and improve decision support systems. The first case study will focus on grassland based production systems. Grassland based production systems often offer a possibility to use marginal land in LFAs (Less Favoured Area) that could otherwise not be used. The second case study will focus on behavioural monitoring.

    Project is targeting to implement a pilot project to increase animal production and accelerate rural socio-economic development by precision (low input & reduced traffic) fertilization of irregular sloped mountainous pastures by using ICT and automation. Project will create a platform that integrates and harmonizes existing software and hardware technologies into a single system for pasture management.

    The main innovative aspect lies in interconnection of the main data product line as the cornerstone of a farm software ecosystem and its interaction and interoperability with the use cases. Each use case will develop its own Applications (Apps) incorporating the different data inputs, such as real time meteo data, soil moisture content, tractor fuel consumption, yield data, spectral signatures, as well as manually entered data.

    Current technologies for access to Local and Metropolitan Area Networks (LANs and MANs) are often unsuitable for large scale distribution in an agricultural environment.
    The use of these communication networks for connecting automation and remote control devices for irrigation systems allows registering and distributing water by means of several technological tools provided by digital electronics.

    In European countries, the cultivation of fertigated crops experience scarcity of water, and the intensity of cultivation poses significant risks to water quality. The main objective of the FERTINNOWA thematic network is to create a meta-knowledge database on innovative technologies and practices for fertigation of horticultural crops.

    G2P-SOL is a research alliance bringing together the major European and International repositories of germplasm with public and private institutions active in genomics, phenotyping and breeding in the four major Solanaceous crops: potato, tomato, pepper and eggplant. These four crops constitute 66% of the value of European horticultural production, and over 65,000 accessions are available within the consortium.

    DIVERSify is a consortium of scientists, farmers, advisors, breeders and SMEs to co-construct a new approach and tools to investigate the mechanisms underpinning the benefits associated with cropping plant teams, and the crop traits and agronomic practices promoting these benefits. Focussing on arable and grassland systems, the six objectives are to:

    1) identify current best practice for plant teams through participatory engagement with agricultural practitioners and scientific literature;

    SoBigData proposes to create the Social Mining & Big Data Ecosystem: a research infrastructure (RI) providing an integrated ecosystem for ethic-sensitive scientific discoveries and advanced applications of social data mining on the various dimensions of social life, as recorded by “big data”. SoBigData will open up new research avenues in multiple research fields, including mathematics, ICT, and human, social and economic sciences, by enabling easy comparison, re-use and integration of state-of-the-art big social data, methods, and services, into new research.
