The Zhengzhou Fruit Research Institute (ZFRI) is a national research institute studying deciduous fruit and some cucurbits (watermelon and melon). ZFRI focuses its research on fruit genetics and breeding, cultivation, integrated pest management, postharvest research, and fruit quality and safety inspection.
ZFRI now has 206 staff members, among which 60 are senior researchers. As a training base , it offers three doctoral and four master’s programs, enrolling more than 50 students totally.
The Tea Research Institute (TRI) was established in September 1958, affiliated with the Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences (CAAS). It is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.
Founded in 1958, the Tobacco Research Institute (TRI) of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) is responsible for tobacco agricultural science and technology research at the central government level in China. After development of more than half a century, TRI is a now a comprehensive research institution that has a wide range of academic disciplines with a number of national leading subjects, and a large group of specialized experts capable of high-level science and technology innovation as well as transformation of the achievements.

The University of Bordeaux Segalen (formerly University of Bordeaux 2) is one of the two major scientific Universities of Bordeaux, which are presently merging with the Universities of Bordeaux 3 (Letters), Bordeaux 4 (Law) and several Institutes to form a single entity, the University of Bordeaux. The University of Bordeaux Segalen (UB2) has a very strong background in neurosciences, cancer research and medicine, plant physiology and in viticulture/oenology.
IFV conducts studies of general interest for the whole French wine industry, on topics such as plant material, vine growing, vineyard management, winemaking and marketing. The Institute carries out researches on several experimental sites spread all over the French vineyards. IFV also helps the SMEs to elaborate technical references necessary for their progress and competitiveness. The equipment of the experimental centers allows specific studies to test innovations in Viticulture and Winemaking.
The Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica (ITQB) is a research and advanced training institute of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, UNL. Its mission is to develop fundamental research in chemistry and the life sciences, and to explore potential research applications. The Laboratory of Plant Molecular Ecophysiology (LEM) at ITQB develops research in plant eco- physiology and molecular physiology in crops (namely grapevine) in relation to environmental constraints.
JKI Geilweilerhofis a public grapevine breeding institute funded by the German Federal Ministry of Nutrition, Agriculture and Consumers Protection. It is in charge of breeding new grapevine cultivars combining high wine quality and fungal disease resistance for sustainable viticulture in Germany. Furthermore, is maintains the German grapevine repository comprising of about 3000 accessions. More than 50 % of the collection consists of genotypes conferring resistances mostly originating from American Vitis species.
Main competences of Research Institute of Viticulture and Enology-PTE (RIVE) are: (i) germplasm preservation in a gene bank over 1600 accessions, (ii) clonal selection of 16, mainly Hungarian autochton cultivars, (iii) plant physiological measurements for selecting cultivars with better adaptation to climate change, (iv) germplasm evaluation for new resistance sources against several pathogens. A Vitis vinifera powdery mildew resistance source with monogenic resistance was introduced into breeding.
IGA is a centre of research in genetics and genomics, committed to explore and exploit natural diversity of plants and organisms relevant to agriculture and non-food crops industry. IGA scientists have specific competences in grapevine genetics, genomics and breeding, grapevine crop management, adaptation of grapevine to abiotic stresses, exploration of grapevine germplasm for disease resistance.
